CBD has been the subject of a lot of discussion and research over the past few years, but one question that people continually ask is “how much CBD should I take?”. Simply put, there is no one universal CBD dosage, and each person will respond differently. There are, however, some simple ways to calculate CBD strength – from CBD edibles to CBD oils.
How much CBD oil should I take?
When deciding to use CBD, it is important that you get the dose right for you. Properly dosing your cannabidiol intake and ensuring that you are taking an amount that is adequate for you is essential. Without the correct CBD oil dosing, you may not experience the full benefits. The ‘perfect’ CBD dose is different for everybody. Your weight, individual body chemistry, and your reason for use will all play a huge part in how much cannabidiol you should take. When it comes to CBD strength, it is always best to start with a smaller daily dosage, and gradually increase this by about 5mg per week until you reach an amount that you feel works for you.
What Is a good CBD strength?
CBD products contain varying amounts of CBD, meaning you will require a different amount per day. It is important to be aware of the CBD content of a product before you purchase it. For example, our CBD oils come in a wide variety of CBD oil strengths and bottle sizes. This ranges from 5% (500mg per 10ml) up to 20% (2000mg per 10ml), meaning you have full flexibility when choosing your CBD oil strength.
It’s important to note here that a higher milligram (mg) of CBD does not always mean a higher overall strength. For example, 500mg of CBD in a 10ml bottle would not have the same strength as 500mg in a 100ml bottle. This is because the CBD is essentially distributed in a larger amount of the ‘carrier’ oil; or ‘spread out’ more. Honest Hemp’s 500mg CBD oil in a 10ml bottle contains a CBD percentage of 5%. The 5000mg CBD oil in a 100ml bottle also contains a CBD percentage of 5%. This is because the CBD content is ‘spread out’ to the same degree. Therefore, it is important to take notice of the CBD percentage as well as the milligrams (mg).
If you are looking for a more simplistic way to control your CBD dosage, CBD edibles are a brilliant option. Honest Hemp’s CBD capsules come in either 10mg or 25mg of CBD per capsule. Our CBD gummies and CBD vegan domes come in either 5mg or 10mg of CBD per sweet. With CBD e-liquids, it is much more difficult to control exactly how much CBD you are consuming per day. It’s almost impossible to measure an inhalation of vapour. However, what you can do is measure how much e-liquid you put into your device, and allocate that amount for the day.
How to calculate CBD oil dosage
As ideal CBD dosage amounts differ so much between people, it is difficult to know the exact requirements of each individual. This is why we always recommend you start low and gradually work your way up until you find the CBD strength that you feel works best for you.
Take a look at this chart to get an idea of average CBD dosing:
Now that we have an idea of roughly how much CBD we need per day, let’s take a look at how to work out how much we are taking. With CBD edibles, it’s very easy to workout how many we need. For example, if you need 20mg of CBD, you know to take two of Honest Hemp’s 10mg CBD capsules, or two of their 10mg CBD vegan domes. With CBD oils, or ‘tinctures’, it can be a little more difficult. Take a look at this chart for more guidance:
Using this chart, you can calculate any CBD dosage. Use the ‘MG per drop’ column to find out how much CBD is in each drop of your oil. In the last column, you can see how many drops are required to meet 19.5mg.
Always remember that CBD oil dosages is a very subjective thing. What works for somebody else may not work for you, and vice versa. Always start low, and gradually increase your dose by about 5mg per week until you reach an amount that is right for you. Additionally, try not to exceed 160mg of CBD per day unless you have been advised otherwise by your doctor. Why take CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) products have become a very popular remedy in recent years for helping with various health problems. The NHS use cannabis and CBD based medicines for patients suffering from conditions like epilepsy and MS, and for people going through chemotherapy. However, CBD can be used by anybody without a prescription. Many people use it to help improve their general wellbeing and assist in reducing anxiety and depression, as well as to promote better sleep, help soothe pain and inflammation, and much more.
CBD works by interacting with cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) in the human body. These receptors are essential for regulating many bodily functions relating to the brain and the immune system. CBD is also believed to have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidizing effects. It is important to take an appropriate amount of CBD per day for you.
